I recently watched the movie (500) Days of Summer, and I re-feel in love with that classic tune by The Smiths, Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths. I could resist doing a post!

Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I WantShe & Him

This recent, and beautiful rendition is from the soundtrack for the movie 500 Days of Summer by the band She & Him. The beautiful vocals are done by none other that Zooey Deschanel, the darling actress who played Summer in the movie.

Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I WantDream Academy

Do you remember this version? From the soundtrack for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off released back in 1986. The very dreamy instrumental version pays respectful tribute to The Smiths, while being a unique creation all on its own. I love it!

I couldn’t leave out the original! First recorded in 1984 by The Smiths.

Did you watch HBO’s Carnivalé? It remains one on my favourite shows. So haunting, and beautiful. The soundtrack, for the most part, fits those adjectives as well. My favourite tracks from the soundtrack have an elegant interplay between the banjo and the violin.

Dora Mae’s Funeral

Carnival Convoy

Beautiful and haunting.

The tune that brings this Ford Fiesta commercial to life is by the Road 2 Nowhere favourite, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, called Janlin. You should get their debut album, Up From Below, because it too, is a pretty big deal.
