Ever since the days of Jerry Lee Lewis, it’s been well known what Shakin’ it is all about, and musicians are keen to reuse this sexy metaphor over and over again:

Shake ItToddla T

Toddla T

Toddla T

I cannot get enough of this tune by Toddla T called Shake it!!! It is so catchy and fun! Plus, it has this stunningly beautiful interlude in the middle that breaks up the dancehall-esque of the track.

Shake ItMetro Station

This song is still stuck in my head since I posted about the Metro Station pop classic nearly a year ago. Metro Station is still hard at work promoting their self-titles disc, with several dates in the southern states this month. Check out the Metro Station website for more details.

Shake ItTom Waits

Tom Waits

Tom Waits

I think it’s been long enough since the last time I mention Tom Waits on this blog. I really have to restrain myself from not writing about him all the time! A legend! Shake It is from Wait’s 19th album Real Gone. It’s a great song form a killer album.

Shake Remix Ft. Pitbull & E – Ying Yang Twins

Yin Yang Twins

Yin Yang Twins

The Reggaetone track by the Ying Yang Twins is fun and diverse, mixing from Spanish rap,  hip-hop and dancehall in an intriguing fusion. Its well worth a listen.

As a bonus, just because I can’t get this track out of my head since I started writing this post:

Hey YaOutkast

Shake it like a polaroid picture!!!

Dance Fit

Over the past couple of months I have learned how fun it can be to sweat in a room full of people dancing in time to popular music, desperately trying to stay in step with the instructor. From my love of Dance Fit I’ve become quite fond of some very Top 40, popular with the kids these days, tracks (quite uncharacteristic for me)! I’m all about embracing the fun and the beat these days, so I offer you two of my favorite tracks I was introduced to by my Dance Fit instructor.

When I Grow UpPussycat Dolls

When I Grow Up (2008)

Upon a quick listen to this song it sounded to me that the lyrics went:

When I grow up
I wanna be famous
I wanna be a star
I wanna be in movies

When I grow up
I wanna see the world
Drive nice cars
I wanna have Boobies

Sadly the song became just a little less fun for me when I realized that the last word was actually “Groupies”. Oh well… The song is still fun and gets me swaying my hips and sweatin’ every time!

Shake ItMetro Station

Metro Station (2008)

This young band from California offers us this ridiculously catchy tune. The lyrics describe the type of shakin’ I doubt the majority of Metro Station’s primary audience has yet experienced. The song is reminiscent of 80’s synth pop with fun, yet dirty lyrics. A guilty pleasure to say the least!

Now… skip to the front for 4, then side sashay!
